Walt Whitman an American writer who was born in 1819 had a particular interest in poetry. Whitman was into the idea of being an American and Americans were suppose to be self-relient people in his eyes. One person that was an influence to Whitman was Ralph Waldo Emerson. Emerson only being a few years older wound up teaching Whitman a lot of what he knew. Time was another influence to Whitman, he was a man of time. Meaning when he wrote he questioned time and tended to argue that time doesn’t matter. The past, present, and future eventually all become one time according to Whitman. He shows what he means by this when he wrote Crossing Brooklyn Ferry. Walt Whitman happens to be one of my few favorite writers when it comes to poetry!
